November 29th, 2014 - Theiss Closes out 2014 with Turkey Nationals at Lonestar Speedway
1Austin Theiss closed out his 2014 campaign over the weekend with a trip to Lonestar Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) for the annual Turkey Nationals. Austin pulled double duty as he competed in both the Open Wheel Modified and Super Late Model ranks.

Thirty-five Open Wheel Modifieds registered to chase the $1,200 top prize. Theiss started fourth in his heat race and was leading when contact with debris on the track forced him to retire early. As a result he would have to run a b-main, where a second place finish positioned him starting 20th in the finale. Austin wasted no time in his march to the front, racing his way to eighth by lap five. Unfortunately, his night came to an end shortly after when he was involved in a multi-car melee.

Making his Super Late Model debut, Theiss went into battle against a stout field of thirty-four entries battling for the $5,000 payday. The Southern United Professional Racing (SUPR) tour sanctioned the event, which saw Austin register a sixth place finish in his heat race, sending him to a b-main. In the b-main, Theiss fell just short of a transfer position, bringing his night to an early end.

The weekend drew to a close on Saturday night with the $4,000-to-win finale, which drew a stout field of forty-five Open Wheel Modified to the oval.
