March 29th, 2014 - Theiss Enters King of America IV
Austin Theiss made the trip to Humbolt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) over the weekend for the King of America IV with the United States Modified Touring Series.

Ninety-three of the nation's best Open Wheel Modified stars converged on the 3/8 mile bullring looking for their shot at the $10,000 prize. The format included double heat races on Thursday and Friday night with drivers accumulating points toward Saturday night's finale. On Thursday evening Theiss finished third in the first heat and eighth in the second heat, leaving him just shy of advancing into Thursday night's preliminary feature.

On Friday night, Austin advanced from the ninth starting spot to a fourth place finish in the first heat and went on to finish third in the second heat race which earned him the final starting spot in the 16 lap preliminary feature. After finishing twelfth in the feature, Theiss was ranked 22nd in passing points which locked him into the tenth starting spot for Saturday night's b-main.

With the top fourteen finishers in the b-main advancing to the 100 lap main event, Austin secured the 23rd starting spot with an eleventh place finish. During the course of the feature, Theiss battled an ill handling race car for much of the event before retiring his #7D Theiss Motorsports/LG21/Mullins Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified on lap 92 for a 22nd place finish in the final rundown.

March 22nd, 2014 - Austin Theiss Competes in USMTS Tripleheader
After having a week off, Austin Theiss returned to action on Thursday evening at Superbowl Speedway (Greenville, Texas) to kick off a triple header weekend with the USMTS Open Wheel Modifieds.

Fifty-one competitors were registered for battle in Thursday's $2,000-to-win event, and struggles in heat race action left Austin starting deep in a b-main. With the top four finishers advancing from b-main action to the 40 lap finale Theiss advanced four spots to grab the final transfer position, locking him into the twenty-second starting spot for the feature. In the main event, Austin advanced to sixteenth place finish.

Friday night found the USMTS tour making its first ever trip to Timberline Speedway (Corley, Texas) as another $2,000-to-win affair was contested. In heat race action, Austin finished fourth which fell just short of the transfer landing him in a b-main. A second place finish in the b-main earned him the eighteenth starting spot for the main event. During the course of the 40 lap feature, Theiss drove by five other competitors en route to a thirteenth place finish.

The weekend came to a close with a $2,000-to-win event at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) on Saturday night. Austin failed to make the transfer through his heat race and struggles in the b-main forced him to take a provisional starting spot for the main event. In the 40 lap feature, Theiss advanced from his 26th starting position to record a 19th place finish at the checkered flag.
